Pantry Essentials

People often ask me how it's possible to whip up dinner in a flash. The answer? A properly stocked pantry. Having a variety of spices, oils, vinegars, tinned fishes (yes, tinned fish), canned tomatoes, dried pasta and some fresh garlic, shallots and onion is your ticket to quick dinners. See my pantry essentials below, along with a few quick dinners to make your week a little easier. TIP: Don't feel like you have to build your stocked pantry in one grocery run. Pick up a few of these items each time you're at the store and you'll be stocked up without breaking the bank before you know it - plus you'll save money moving forward because you won't buy unnecessary ingredients!

Lemony Garlic Pasta with Anchovies and Spinach


  • Bay leaves

  • Black peppercorns

  • Cayenne pepper

  • Chili powder

  • Cinnamon, ground

  • Cloves, ground

  • Cumin, ground

  • Curry powder

  • Garam masala

  • Garlic powder

  • Canned beans (I like white, garbanzo and black)

  • Canned full-fat organic coconut milk

  • Dried pasta (I like lentil)

  • Canned tomato:

  • Tinned Fish:

  • anchovies

  • tuna fish

  • sardines

  • Dijon Mustard

  • Full fat, REAL Mayo

  • Plain Greek yogurt - 2% or full fat

  • Fresh garlic
